Artefact #1 - Symposium Showreel Activity;
The Activity;
This activity asked us to firstly watch a video and list the different types of platforms and applications used in the examples. Then we were asked to choose one specific example and identify how you would use something similar in "our" classroom, and how it would relate to the curriculum. Lastly, we were asked to write about how we thought it related to the AITSL standards.

A Specific Example;Radio station students are something that I, as a teacher, would be interested in including within my classroom or school. Even today, I have trouble talking in front of people or expressing how I feel to my peers or teachers. Although student radio is something that is more or less used throughout high school and university, including it within primary school is something that I think all teachers and schools should consider. Having two or three selected students a week to spend one class, or lunchtime perhaps, on the "school radio", will not only boost their confidence and contribute to their speaking and listening skills, but it also has a positive effect on their social development. I believe that although schools are designed to teach children intellectually, it is ultimately the exact same importance to teach children social skills. A student radio will assist in developing an inclusive environment as a result of having students learn about commitment and teamwork. This also relates back to the curriculum as it is a great way for students to help with keeping their parents/guardians, as well as the students and teachers informed about the upcoming events within the school.

The AITSL Standards;
The AITSL Standards states that as a part of the curriculum teachers much "implement teaching strategies for using ICT to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students", (2.6). Having a student radio station within the school allows students to gain more knowledge and engage in being a part of a radio. By the end of primary school, in today's society, it is expected that students will have already a vast amount of experience in working devices such as computers/laptops and iPads. However, by giving children the opportunity to experience "student radio" it allows them to develop and become more fluent in various different technological devices, whilst assisting in the development of speaking and listening skills, confidence and contributing to a positive social and inclusive environment.
