About Me;
My name is Mia Lake, and I am a first year student at Federation University. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Primary Education course. I have always loved being around children. Being the youngest in my family, I always wanted a younger sibling, however I never got one. When I was 15, I moved to New South Wales and was living with my Aunty and her one year old daughter. Although I was only there for half a year, before moving back to the town of Traralgon, I adored spending majority of time teaching my little cousin to read and help her understand why things are the way they are. I knew from that moment, I would love to be a teacher, and help young children get the best start to life they possibly can.
Whilst my older sister is a math and technological genius, I always preferred English. I love to write and read novels. If I am not doing that, I am always found off socialising with my friends. I believe that being social is a vital part of any individuals childhood, and values and social skills are an absolute necessity to be taught within the classroom.
Similarly, I also have recently changed my views on" ICT within the primary classroom". Initially, I would have classed myself as "technologically illiterate." This is because before commencing the Information Communication Technology class at university, I had no idea how to use computers, iPads, and specific apps, nor did I understand how helpful these tools can be to the education of young individuals. It was evident throughout my first assessment within this class, that I did not fully understand, and was not completely capable of using programs to create amazing resources, such as a digital essay. After lots of patience, practice and ensuring that I made the time to complete all the classwork, I begun to understand how useful these tools are, and how as a teacher, it would be crazy to not take advantage of these resources, as they are an amazing device that will ultimately give children the best opportunity to get the most of their learning.
